StoryCorps at Stanford Health Care
FAQs
What is a StoryCorps recording?
40 minutes of meaningful conversation
A candid, unscripted conversation, typically between two people, about whatever is important to them.
Who can share a story?
You
All patients, family members, faculty, and staff are encouraged to participate in StoryCorps at SHC.
Why share my story?
Right now we need connection more than ever
Stories provide the opportunity for us to acknowledge, learn from, and honor the voices of our communities.
What will we talk about?
Whatever matters to you
For example – At this time in your life, what nourishes your heart/soul/spirit? Do you look at life differently now than before you were diagnosed? How has your life changed during COVID-19? What do you feel most grateful for in your life?
How do we record?
Remotely
To respond to the need for social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic — while working towards its mission to help people feel more connected and less alone — StoryCorps launched a virtual recording platform. This allows participants to see and hear one another during their conversation, and to be joined by a facilitator remotely.
We will see each other during the recording but only the audio is stored.
Anything else I should know?
Yes!
- You can record anonymously.
- You can record your interview in any language you choose.
- You decide how or if you share your recording.
- Everyone has a story to share.
